Sara Hacken
Experience:
Sara taught in Alpine School District for 30 years in both elementary and secondary schools. She has taught every subject in the elementary core, as well as English, US History, Utah History, Creative Writing, and Debate at the secondary level. She served on the Community Council at Lakeridge Junior High and wrote the original Trustlands grants for both Barratt Elementary School and Lakeridge Junior High School.
Dedication:
She was selected as the Utah State Teacher of the Year in 2013. She was also the Utah History Teacher of the Year, and a Utah Science Teacher of the Year. She has represented Utah teachers at various conferences locally and nationally. Sara was also recognized for her service with a special award named for her, The Sara Hacken Service Award which is now given to one educator each year. She is passionate about giving all children an appropriate public education.
Innovation:
Sara wrote and directed grants for teachers and schools which brought more than $3 million dollars to Alpine School District. She has worked with teachers in over 70 schools to provide needed materials and training which have impacted almost every student in Alpine District.
